The Emergency Medicine Club is a dynamic organization at Michigan State University dedicated to the cultivation and development of interest in emergency medicine within the osteopathic profession. Activities and experiences are intended to interest the student who wishes to explore emergency medicine as well as those who chose to practice primary care with experience in urgent care settings.
The EMC is closely affiliated with the Student Chapter of the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians. This national tie enhances the students' experience with opportunities for students to be active in a national organization, to share information, and to cultivate relationships on a national level.
Opportunities for students to explore the many facets of EM as a career and the different pathways that lead to this are facilitated through a variety of speakers, discussions and activities. Popular examples include residency seminars by residents and directors, interactive case presentations and prevention by practitioners in specialty areas of EM such as research, trauma and the use of osteopathic principles in the ER. Members will also benefit from activities and opportunities for hands on experience.
